Description

"If no name has been given, it will get assigned an internal counter together with the prefix […]" (from latest manual)

It would be nice if the "name" would not be required in the wizard, since it is optional in manual configuration, anyway.

It's not easy to explain the use of this field to an editor with little technical background, but necessary as long as this field is required.
Once they get it questions like "Are whitespaces or special character allowed?" usually follow. It would be easier for them to just leave it empty, since most don't have any advantages by entering something or repeating the label.

  • Tracker changed from Bug to Feature
  • Target version set to 8 LTS

Unfortunately, this cannot be solved easily. Since the form wizard is rewritten for 8 LTS, we will not touch this functionality in TYPO3 7 anymore. Your feature request is already on our list ;) Please check out our form blueprint which will grow during the next weeks.

Great! The blueprint looks very promising. Looking foreward to testing it.

Thx Ben ;) I'm closing this issue. It's on our roadmap and we will not forget it.
