Description

If a user is in the page module, a small icon is shown in a content element box next to the record title if another user currently edits the record. The icon could be hard to spot on a page with a lot of columns. Goal is to improve the visualization of such records.

Working with TYPO3 for 15 years and seeing users work with it, I have never met this problem. By intentionally drawing users attention to elements being edited you risk they click them "just to see what this is". Further, the proposed implementation requires some esoteric understanding of what those colors mean.

I would prefer this issue is not done.

I think the truth is somewhere in between.
I agree that the colors themselves are not speaking at all.
But I ran across the usecase as well, so to me it's more a question of "how to visualize?" here.

I talked to Andy about it and we want to try and come up with something less "hey, look at me" which still does the job.
