Translate button :: Missing in backend columns

Description

Hi,
I am using typo3 9.5.5 ,
I want to localize content individually which depends on backend columns (Normal, left, right, border).
For that in typo3 8.7 there is a translation button for each colPos in the backend.
The problem I faced in 9.5.5, I am unable to select a source language once I already translated a particular content from the default language because clicking localize button skips the step 2 (select source language) during translate.

This feature should have implemented as in some of our typo3 systems the content in the default language is not used now, as they have maintained Swiss Content correctly, because of this when translating content to french it only checks default, not the Swiss.

Sorry for my late answer; can you provide a step-by-step guide on how to reproduce your issue? I tried to reproduce it, but I think I failed

This is the test I performed on a 9.5.8 installation:

Prerequisistes

  • Fresh TYPO3 9.5.8 installation
  • Have 3 separate languages
    • Italian (Default)
    • English (ID=1)
    • German (ID=2)

test execution

  • Create a page (TEST), translate it into english and german
  • create a content element in Italian
  • Translate the CE in english
  • on Page > Languages view, click on the "Translate" button of "German" column

Results

  • the popup with the translation wizard pops out
  • it allows me to choose Italian or English as source of the translation. (step 2)

So evertything seems correct, or not? Is there still something missing?
