One way to reproduce (there may be more scenarios):
After using the filter its possible to select a page (Page or List Module), then clearing the filter (e.g. to select a subpage that was hidden in the filter result) shows the whole tree again. On big trees now it can be hard to find the page again, because the tree scroll is not at the current selected page but on top.
So a feature would be to scroll to the current active page when releasing the filter.
By the way - this was working bofore V9.
IMO it would be also a nice feature to have a little button to scroll to the current Page (like its done for example in PhpStorm).
