Intentions / explanation¶

• Refer to free / connected mode of page
• Use texts of buttons to refer to the mode ("Translate", "copy")
• clarify explanations

Translate description:

Translate will create a direct connection between the content element in the original language and the translated content element.
This means that the sorting order of content elements or meta information like start- or endtime will be taken from the original content and you will not be able to change these values on a translated content element.
Once you use this option, the translated page will be in "Connected mode" which affects all content elements on the page.
Use this when the translated page should have the same (translated) content elements in the same order as the original.

Copy description:

Copy will take the content elements from the source language and create copies in a different language.
This means that you will be able to add, delete and move content elements freely, but you will not have the benefit of being able to compare changes made in the source language later.
Once you use this option, the translated page will be in "Free mode" and the "Translate" button will no longer be available.<br>
Use this when you need more freedom in adding, deleting or arranging the content elements on the translated page.

Problems:¶

• texts become quite long - (longer explanations should be in documentation / context sensitive help)

Change in title:

• the title of the modal is "Choose a translation mode for ..." because each step has it's own dedicated title

Change in icons:

• use new - more intuitive - icons
• consistent with the original localisation icon (line on the left, star on the right)

Change in description texts

• shorten the text
• write intention in bold first, e.g. "Choose this option if you want an exact translation"
• tried to be as short as possible to help user take a decision without using the term "strict" and I tried to find a word to define what is a page that is not an exact translation

I would like to abandon this now. Reason:

It was intended as a simple text change but the change was not so straightforward and not even sure if we can agree on a a new text here. Since the possible improvement is pretty minor, I don't think it is worth a big effort. If anyone would like to take it up again, please feel free to reopen or create a new patch.
