when going to the extension manager and trying to update extension which have fixed the MySQL-DEFAULT-0-Bug fixed thereselves already the database tables don't get updated.

TYPO3 3.8.0beta1
PHP 4.3.9

I can't reproduce this.

could it be, that you mean only the message that appears when entering the default view of an extension in the extmanager ?
the tables will always updated correctly but the processing of the db fields is wrong in class.t3lib_install.php.

this is probably a duplicate of bug 416. Did you try the patches I uploaded there ?
