Bug #17281
closedswf is not protected when added in as multimedia
0%
Description
I can easily copy multimedia content especially .swf files from web pages using typo3. This is a security problem and renders typo3 useless for my clients. e107 project protects .swf.

How do you want to protect SWFs? I mean, the web server will have to send the SWF to the user anyway.
Please specfy a working concept of PHP and Web server configuration, wich may NOT be Apache-specific, that implements the level of protectoin that you are looking for.
Note that while TYPO3 may not fullfil your reqirements out of the box, maybe some of the many extensions will do. Consider wirting an extension yourself. I'm sure that in your vicinity you'll find a company or a freelancer who can assits you and your customer.

In response to private message:
Although we all know that you really can't protect media and others you can prevent the average user (some experienced low level web type or average web surfer) from doing a save as or right click copy and paste or drop and drag function.
I think as a default media and images should be accustomed some minor protection in this area as a core extension labeled "Security".
As far as writing the extension myself I have to use my two employees for the most part in the production of web sites and not software. I wish I had the time but it looks as though I might be hiring again soon for expanding business.
I have had a lot of issues with most of the extensions and for the most part I actually do like the core principles of typo3 and therefore wish to be at least a "reporter" of issues or bugs that will make it better.
I actually like the tempvoila extension because I can use any template I design and rapidly incorporate it in the program. Most impressive! I wish however there were ways to add a "layers" option to add as many "menus" or "content" as desired. I think that would be the real KICKER for propelling this program in popularity. I would suggest examining the Tufat.com site in regards to easysite "layers" concept because that is one advantage it has over typo3.

This is not a core problem, I propose to close this issue due to the following reasons:
- No further feedback for a long time
- No proposal / concept on how to secure / obscure .swf files
- This is not a security problem in typo3, it is not even a intellectual property problem, because any flash has to be downloaded by the browser anyway (you can restrict access to users / groups with extensions)
Please announce an extension with needed features yourself, or open a new issue describing what actually is wrong in the core.

Resolved, no change required for the reasons mentioned above.
