It would be nice if config.uniqueLinkVars to 1would be changed to 1 by default because 0 just makes no sense, hasn't got any usage and needs to be set to 1 in every installation

FYI, the reason for not setting this by default was the performance slowdown for the additional routine. However, I'm completely fine with the change.
