There are quite a view places in the core which don't use t3lib_BEfunc::date or t3lib_BEfunc::datetime. There is no need to get the configurration from $GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['SYS']['ddmmyy'] manually if there is a function existing for that already.
