After upgrade to 4.5.1 and updating translation handling all translations in BE and FE are gone.

Don't know if this log message has something to do with it:

$GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['EXT']['extConf']['em'] is no array

now it works

first i updated translations via old extension manager, where i got the error above.
i tried the same with the new extension manager and now it works.
but shouldn't it work either with the old one?
