Description

The TCA setting l10n_mode determines how the localization of fields is handled, both in BE and FE. It is very useful for editors to see how this is handled per field to determine if they need to fill in the field or not.

For example the l10n_modes noCopy and mergeIfNotBlank both leave the field in the localized record empty, but the latter causes the original content to be shown in FE if the field is empty in the localized record. A small icon in the space where the original value is displayed could help a lot.

Example for use

Create or edit the localization of a record in the backend which has a field with l10n_mode = mergeIfNotBlank.

This is the case for quite a few tt_news fields. Creating or editing the localization of a news record is enough to see the new icon in the area where the default language content is shown. E.g. the fields author and author email are mergeIfNotBlank.
If the original field is empty the default language content is hidden. In this case the icon is also not shown.
