However the function preg_spliti does not exist ( looks like a search & replace error s/split/preg_split/g )

it should have been

$parts = preg_split('/<title>|<\/title>/i', $content, 3);

Bug affects/is present in;
Typo3;
4.4.12
4.5.10
4.6.3
(and most likely every version since the commit)

Tested in php 5.2.17

I'm a little surprised that we've not noticed this before, given that the error was introduced more than a year ago.
