Image rendering for animated GIFS does not work

Description
Hi Philip,
This bug only belongs to Version 6.1.3.
I uploaded animated gifs into image element. The gifs are always converted to PNG files, even if the setup for image rendering has been adjsuted.
The option for "Quality and Type" - None (ignore all other options) is totally ignored ;). I could find the same problem in other forum posts as well. The work around is to insert the image manually via HTML element, which is not so nice.

As this issue is a way old, does it still persists for you with newer version of TYPO3?
I couldn't reproduce this with TYPO3 8.7.10.

I was not able to reproduce it, too; I am using text & image content element.
I tested with both 8.7.10 and 9.2.0-dev and an animated gif file with size 400x300 (to avoid resizing).
Please note that I use standard TYPO3 configuration for image manipulation.
Should we perform a different test?
