tx_extbase_type for sys_category?

Description
I don't know the concepts behind the categorization api but shouldn't "sys_category" behave like "fe_users" in extbase context? fe_users has a field called "tx_extbase_type" and this is respected by the repository. Shouldn't this be realized the same way with sys_category? For example when you want to extend sys_category to an own object etc.?
