Description

First I'd like to repeat Feature #47296. Everything Markus Timnter has written is absolutely true: sometimes you just have to edit files of an extension, even though this is not good practice. I'm sure many, many developers do this. Sometimes there are necessities.

At least it should be possible to

1) access the template file of an extension to customize it

2) preferably also to access the language-files (because over the last six years I have had MANY occassions when the given wording was simply not good for our purposes, sometimes even misleading)

3) to choose an older version of an extension. Again, there have been numerous occassions when the current version of an extension did not work for us, but an older version was perfect.

My colleagues and I would really appreciate if this could be solved.

Kind regards
Marion

P.S: And no, it was not communicated beforehand that the extension manager was about to change this drastically.
Still, thank you for all the hard work!!!!

  • Target version set to 6.2.12

Hi Marion,

1) About the templates, it is always a good practice to move them on another folder (e.g. /fileadmin/ and then use Typoscript to tell the extension the new path. I found only very few occasions on which this was not allowed.
2) About language files... I've found that the latest version of the extension lfeditor allows you to manage the labels in a quite good way, give it a try.
3) It is possible to install an old version of the extension using the interface "get extension", clicking on the version number, it opens the list with all the versions.

Are thinks left, which need to be fixed?

Hi Ricardo,

thank you for your input! Of course, for these three cases there are solutions as you suggest, but they were just examples for occasions when I needed the old-style extension manager. So, although you've been very helpful, I'm still wanting the old-style ext manager back...

Nevertheless, I accept that apparently it's not going to come back and give up.

Hi Alexander,

thanks for following this up. Sorry for not replying sooner, but somehow my e-mail notification hadn't worked and I don't regularly sign in here ...

So still the question is, can we close this issue?

Yes.

I would have that myself but didn't find a relevant button.
