Description
If you define a global title, description in Filelist, the placeholder (Image Metadata) is shown at tt_content (image) and pages records (media) - but you can't uncheck the Override "lorem ipsum"? checkbox.
If you uncheck it and save the record, it will be checkt again after reloading.
It seems, this checkbox does nothing at all - also it is not stored in the sys_file_reference table - so there is no difference in "override" (empty string) after saving once or the default value of the according fields (with NULL value)

A week ago a patch has been merged in this regard. This is not yet in the latest version of 6.2
Are you able to test against the latest TYPO3_6-2 branch?

Are you sure you encountered this TYPO3 6.2? Because the override (checkbox) behaviour has changed in regard to 6.1 and 6.0

I encountered this in a running 6.2.x Installation. Since no one used this FAL feature before (we skipped right from 4.5 LTS to 6.2 LTS and only briefly used the versions in between to see whats new), no one noticed - to verify this issue i installed a clean and fresh 6.2.9 where this issue exists too - i have not tested it with the latest 6.2 branch yet but it is reproduceable in every 6.2 installation we have, regardless of the configuration and browser used.
Just tested on 6.2.9 and 6.2.10-dev and here all works as expected:
- If you check the override checkbox and add some text; the metadata value is overruled
- If you check the override checkbox and leave the textbox empty; the metadata value is overruled, no value is used
- If you uncheck the override: the metadata is shown
NULL value = use metadata (override isn't set)
NOT NULL value = use override
If you set the value in DB by hand to NULL the checkbox is still checked?
