Description
When a content element with CType "Special Menus" has the menu_type set to "categorized_pages" or "categorized_content", the error message "An error occurred trying to process items for field "Category field" (The given menu_type is not supported.)." is shown.

I am not able to reproduce the problem with the latest 7.6-dev (latest master), could you try again? Or could you give us some other informations about how to reproduce your problem? Thank you!
