But, in RTE content, abbreviations may be defined for languages other than those supported by TYPO3...

The following features of the RTE currently require static_info_tables: abbreviation, language markup and spell checking.

The dependency has not been totally removed for now, but the tca field is now moved over to the extension. i'll close this issue for now.
