Make primary Save Split Button configurable

Description
The default behaviour for the save button in the module template is Save. Often editors wish for e.g. Save and close being the default action. Provide user based configuration of this behaviour.

I have yet to meet any TYPO3 users who uses "Save" as the primary button. So I would say that it's a bug that "Save" was chosen as the default button.
So simply changing the default button to "Save and close" would fix the bug for TYPO3 7 LTS; making it configurable could be targeted at TYPO3 8 LTS.

would have been nice, but there are other plans within the core to improve the UI. Until then, use the extension available in TER.
