Description

Concerns any record with the field "sys_language_uid" in TCA:

The language label for the default language currently is a fixed "Default".
The value of the default language however can be changed in the site config.

I'm not able to reproduce this on every record's "sys_language_uid" field. For example custom records (tested with ext:styleguide) but also tt_content are using the title value from site configuration.
Could you please test this again and specify on which records the reported behaviour occures.

Is gridelements used in your installation? I believe in this case, gridelements implements a userFunc that overrides the behavior of the sys_language_uid field. (which translates the "Default" label)

I have tested it with current master and also with latest 9LTS without any 3rd party. Plain installation (only ext:styleguide). "tt_content" always uses the title from site configuration.

Ok, looks like some misconfiguration on the TYPO3 instance I was working on. Sorry for that. Issue can be closed! :)
