Category tree: ‘indeterminate’ state broken in Typo3 11

Description
The introduction of the ‘indeterminate’ state by 'Feature: #76108 - Replace ExtJS category tree with D3 and SVG - A new ‘indeterminate’ state for the category has been introduced introduced. The category is in the ‘indeterminate’ state if at last one of its descendants is selected (checked).' is broken in Typo3 11.5.
When the page tree is collapsed you can no longer see which subtrees have one or more items selected. In 9.5, and perhaps 10.4 also, you can see this when the checkbox has a minus-sign in it - the icon-indeterminate which signifies the indeterminate state.

- Related to Bug #99614: Category tree only shows first category in records categories tab if permission category is only checked for first level added
When I check a subcategory, the inderminate state si correctly set up in the category's rootline.
But when I save, the indeterminate state of the rootline is lost.
Before saving:
After saving:
- TYPO3 Version changed from 11 to 12
- TYPO3 Version changed from 12 to 11
I can confirm, that also with TYPO3 11.5.25 the category selection icon "indeterminate" is missing if an record is opened for editing or a new record is saved.
The indeterminate icon only appears when the user temporarily selects another category. This is a big UX/UI issue. (latest mozilla firefox, microsoft edge and google chrome)
I can confirm this issue with TYPO3 11.5.26.
