the 'hide page' flag does prevent the templates from being inherited to its children

hallo
i have created the following setup:
- created a site structure
siteroot
subpage1
subpage2
subpage21
subpage22
- created a new workspace 'drafty'
- switch workspace
- the 'subpage2' has set the 'hide page flag' to on
when i create a new version of 'subpage21' and then preview the changes, the live workspace is shown in the appearing framesetm, the 'drafty' version shows 'no template found'.
if i change subpage2 from hide page to show page and switch the type to 'dont sho in menu' the preview works!
so the 'hide page' flag blocks the template from beeing passed on to children.

Possibly this is by design. Not sure if it is different from Live
