Make BE user groups valid for a period of time

Description
It would be nice to have the start & stop fields also in the BE user group.
Thus, a BE user group can be enabled e.g. only from 1st January 2008 to 1st February 2008.

So, you'd like to have a period where a BE user group is valid and e.g. expires after a given daten?

that is correct!
it makes sense because there are far more rights available in the group then in a single be user record.
I guess it is also not too complicated to create and fits very well into the perfect right management of TYPO3

as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?
