TYPO3 4.2.0: RTE not available in FIREFOX 2.0.0.14
Added by Stefan Jurisch over 16 years ago.
Updated over 14 years ago.
Description
In Version 4.2.0 there is no RTE available in the Backend like last seen in 4.1.6...
I tried to (re)install 4.2.0 multiple times, but the behaviour did not change.
TYPO3 does only show an simple text editor displaying the HTML source code. But in this mode it is not possible to correctly work with anchors and so on.
Toggleing the "RTE" off, does only change it to no longer show the tags.
I was neither able to install the RTE from TER.
I created a login to a demo site for some developer who likes to watch this issue live.
Website: http://typo3demo.siegnetz.de
Login (user/pass): typo3 / development
(issue imported from #M8493)
I can confirm this also with 2.0.0.14 ... on your site. But the RTE works fine for all my other installations, so something must be wrong or peculiar. Eg. your imagemagick seems to be broken as there are no thumbs in the BE.
This is quite confusing... there ist running another site in development on the SAME machine - but powered by TYPO3 4.1.6 - there are all these things available, including imagemagick/gd, providing nice thumb images.
This is because I reported it as a bug for 4.2.0.
Odd. Have a look at the localconf.php settings. Maybe you missed something that's needed for imagemagick.
Whoops - the IM/GD was indeed not configured correctly. I changed that.
But this does not change the behaviour of the RTE. In fact, there is right more faulty behaviour - including the missing functionality of the "Clear-cache-flash"-button or the preview-button beside it...
I think, this might have its cause within the same context, but I do not know if I should this report as a bug separately... (?)
TYPO: 4.16
Firefox: 2.0.0.14
OS: Linux - gentoo
PHP: 4.4.8
The editor is being loaded. Please wait...
Edited:
Regrettable, the same now with IE 7
Some confusing behavior:
Saving the page while the mentioned message in the rte-window is shown opens the alert-box "your login has expired..."
Now I switched to debug-output and got following messages
with typical mode and compression switched on I get following output - no rte is shown:
ERROR [HTMLArea::getScript]: Unable to get /typo3temp/rtehtmlarea_TableOperations_100879f060af9ad0bdc8137ef7592720-compressed.js . Server reported 404
turning compression off rte is shown but I get following output:

Due to the fact, that the style is temporarily until now I don't know why it isn't written - all other stuff is written, so it can't be any problems with rights.
@David: Your issue is not quite the same as the one reported on this one. Please open another issue. Your problem seems to be lack of write permission to folder typo3temp/rtehtmlarea: change it to 0755. Check variable folderCreateMask in the installed tool. Should be 0755.
@Stefan: do still face the same issue?
No feedback for a long time. Closing the issue.
