Updated over 9 years ago.
Description
in default configuration all (PHP) errors are logged to sys_log table.
In some cases this errors floods the table, but there is no possibilty to clear specific entries.
Truncate table with the Install Tool is not an option if you need to log user interactions, who create pages, records ...
Solution :
integrate possibilty to delete entries from syslog
would nice to see something like this in TYPO3 4.5
(issue imported from #M16503)
- Target version deleted (

+1 Recently, I discovered huge amount of data on one of TYPO3 installations on 4.5 LTS. To purge it I had to work in MySQL shell.
In TYPO3 4.6 there is a garbage collection task for sys_log. Maybe you could use that.
- Description updated (diff)
- Status changed from New to Needs Feedback
- Is Regression set to No
Is the suggestion from Lorenz enough? There are extension like tablecleaner available in TER which offer more possibilities..
- Status changed from Needs Feedback to Closed
I close this issue because the latest version of TYPO3 (6.2.12) has the scheduled task "table garbage collection" which can be run to "trim down" the size of the sys_log table using the Scheduler module.
