tcaTree got troubles with many items

Description
The tcaTree is certainly nice but it seems this feature is currently not at enterprise level as it got big troubles with a larger record see.
I got this problem with a tcaTree out of pages in bigger project and there is no also another report concerning ext:news (#29746)
Could you provide a dump or .t3d with test data?

Without knowing your exact situation, I would guess that this is because the TCA tree always returns the full depth - at least that's my impression from what I saw in the source. Maybe we can cut this to the first one or two levels (below the root level), to decrease stress on the client when loading a huge tree.
the number of levels can be configured but problem is more that the full tree is always loaded. only solution is IMO to use ajax as done in the page tree. of course this is not that easy as the complete configuration (which tceform, which table, ...) needs to be sent to ajax handler too
