When editing 17 CE elements at once, even when editing only one field, and saving, I get this error:
Validating the security token of this form has failed. Please reload the form and submit it again.

as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (6.2.9)?

yes definitely. Take a look at my comment #49646-5
It's PHP >= 5.3.9 relevant. I don't know if it is a workaround or a solution to raise the introduced php configuration variable max_input_vars to solve this problem. The problem also occurs within TYPO3 CMS 6.2.
