Hi,

with this feature I am not really sure whether it makes sense ...

We could add a format switch to let the admin decide whether he wants a t3x or a zip.

But this only makes sense, if t3x will be used widely or needed in the future.

It is on purpose that you can only download zip files as we want to get rid of the t3x format and use zip in the future. As the new typo3.org supports zip this should work without problems.
