Bug #50814
closedRTE loses text-highlight / focus in IE. Clearing formatting on particular text doesnt work.
0%
Description
When trying to clear formatting on a text in TYPO3 RTE on Internet Explorer, the focus on the text is lost and the formatting is not removed.
Unfortunately many Editors like to stay on using Internet Explorer.
Steps to reproduce:
- Go to TYPO3 4.5 Backend in Internet Explorer (should be all versions, I used IE9)
- Write some text in RTE
- Select some of the text and make it BOLD
- Select this bolded text (optionally even select chars wrapping the bolded text)
- Click "Remove Formatting" Icon
- Click the "Selected text" radio button at the top
- Click all checkboxes to remove all formating etc.
- Click OK - nothing should happen and the text is not selected anymore..
Using Document Mode IE9 Fixes this issue.
To have it working in IE9 for testing purposes:
- Press F12 for Developer Tools
- Click: Document Mode: IE9 standards
- The Page tree wont work anymore now ( see: Core Bug #25190 )

TYPO3 4.5 backend forces IE8 compatibility.

What version of TYPO3 4.5? I am unable to reproduce this issue using IE10 in IE8 mode.

OK. I was able to reproduce by selecting text that starts exactly at the beginning of the bold element.

In 4.5.29 the problem only occurs when selecting exactly at the beginning of the bold element. (Tested this in IE10 + IE9).

You need to select at least ONE char infront of the bold text to successfully remove the formatting on a selection.
This is a problem if the bold text you want to remove starts at the beginning of a line/paragraph, as in this case it doesnt seem to work at all.

we are sorry, but we close this issue as now TYPO3 uses CKEditor and RTEHtmlarea development has been stopped.
RTEHtmlarea has been decoupled from the core and its code is available on GitHub:
