Description
We just launched a new website with about 250 concurrent users (T3 Version is 4.5) and after using the caching framework with memcache and apc for all the things which are available, the statistics show that about 28% of the time in the DB is spent in the table cache_imagesizes
.
It would make perfectly sense to have this in a different environment

Might be an interesting approach to consider. Have you worked on that already or have some idea on how to implement this? How intrusive such a change would be? It's pretty late in the 6.2 development phase already (feature freeze), but if this change has the relevant performance impact, we might take a closer look at it before 6.2 release. Thanks for thinking in public and sharing!
