Switch ViewHelper breaks with a NULL value

Description
The f:switch ViewHelper breaks with Fluid error No value found for key "TYPO3\CMS\Fluid\ViewHelpers\SwitchViewHelper->switchExpression", thus the key cannot be removed. for a NULL value. A possible solution is to serialize the value before storing it in the ViewHelper variable container.

I'm a little bit confused. I don't see the changes from the last changeset in the current core (checked 6.2.30 and the master branch). The method ViewHelperVariableContainer::exists should be fixed but is still like that:
return isset($this->objects[$viewHelperName][$key]);
Do I miss something?
