Docker - Official Repositories
One of the most critical aspects of the release is the launch of our Official Repositories program. While we have over 14,000 Dockerized applications available in the general public registry, there has been considerable demand for a more curated set of images, with particular guarantees around source and quality. Initially encompassing the top 13 most-searched-for applications in the Docker Hub Registry – including CentOS, MongoDB, MySQL, Nginx, Redis, Ubuntu, and WordPress – the Official Repositories program is open to any community group or software ISV willing to commit resources to on-going maintenance of an application according to the program’s guidelines. For example, SyncSort has a version of their Ironcluster ETL product in the Docker Official Repository. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Create an official release of TYPO3 for docker?
#2 Updated by Stefan Busemann almost 6 years ago
- Category changed from 03 - needs discussion to 04 - personal task (wip)
- Target version changed from next Board Meeting to 2015-01 Hangout
Docker (www.docker.com) is a possibility to use lightweight virtual machines. It is an open source Docker platform, where you can easily download preconfigured packages (f.e. wordpress, …). The question is, if TYPO3 should provide also an official package.
Result: Stefan will contact the CMS team with the idea.[done - waiting for feedback]

Have a Look at this boilerplate docker Container for typo3: https://github.com/mblaschke/TYPO3-docker-boilerplate

TYPO3 Docker Boilerplate is currently only a sane development environment for TYPO3 projects.
There should be a container/boilerplate for the development environment (without any TYPO3 project) and on top of this also a container/boilerplate with a demo installation.
I'm currently switching provisioning the setup of the main docker container from shell scripts to Ansible playbooks so it would be easy to add a demo project creation.

The TYPO3 Docker Boilerplate was forked to a generalized PHP Docker Boilerplate so the TYPO3 one will be specialized for TYPO3 only.
The provisioning was changed to Ansible playbooks instead of plain shell scripts so customization is quite easy - also prebuilt images are available with makes the whole creation a lot faster.
Also multiple Ubuntu versions (with different PHP versions) are available.
