Thanks for creating this report. It looks like FLIF is highly alpha.

The initial release is from 3.10.2015 and the website states:

WARNING: FLIF is a work in progress. The format is not finalized yet. Any small or large change in the algorithm will most likely mean that FLIF files encoded with an older version will no longer be correctly decoded by a newer version. Keep this in mind.

Furthermore this needs to be supported by IM or GM.

I am closing this issue as there is absolutly nothing planned for that as it is far too early. Feel free to add it with an extension.

At the moment there is no browser support yet:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1240692
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=539120

A poly implementation exists:

https://uprootlabs.github.io/poly-flif/

ImageMagick supports FLIF since versions 6.9.4-5 and 7.0.1-7 also the ExifTools but GraphicsMagick not.

So summa sumarum, we are again in the chicken&egg situation. ;-)
So, can we extend FAL with an extension to provide support for flif?

Closing this feature for now and maybe trying this as extension at the moment.
If browser support is available, we may rethink about this feature.
