In which version will this feature come?
As I read in the Code Review, 6.2 won't be touched?

Features are only allowed in current master. Older versions will never be touched. Therefore, the feature will not be backported to 7 or 6 LTS.

After some research it looks like I provided some false information:

Like Georg Ringer did it in his News Extension, the link with the rel attribute has to be in the header.
Georg wrote a HeaderDataViewHelper to add the links.
