Unable to edit RTE image in Chrome

Description
It's not possible to edit image in RTE with Chrome, the edit button stays grayed out.
This issue occurs in Chrome, no problem with Firefox.
Using :
TYPO3 6.2.31
Chromium 58

Hey,
TYPO3 6.2 is not supported anymore, you could however check with the ELTS if this issue persists.
Additionally, it would be good to know if this problem still exists in TYPO3 v7.

The ELTS has practically no changes with 6.2.31.
This issue exists with a fresh install of TYPO3 7.6.18.

A JS error occurs when I click on the image (Chrome only) :
Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'setBaseAndExtent' on 'Selection': There is no child at offset 1.

I just performed a test with 7.6.21 and Chrome 60.0.3112.113 on Windows7 64bit.
The button works and the image is inserted; I obtained the same error reported
Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'setBaseAndExtent' on 'Selection': There is no child at offset 1.
by clicking on the inserted image. The image button still works.
Selecting the image by dragging the mouse over it (like selecting text) and clicking does not trigger the error.

HTMLArea is no longer supported by TYPO3.
