- new default:
- sendmail if http://php.net/manual/en/mail.configuration.php#ini.sendmail-path is set
- otherwise smtp possibly taking http://php.net/manual/en/mail.configuration.php#ini.smtp into account
- silent upgrader can switch transport from mail to the new default
