I've got the same problem with Typo3 v10.4 and would be great to have this feature!

Any updates on this, it was refused under review because it is a feature but I think it can also be considered a regression as it was added in the 7.5 version changelog as

No specific plan, the patch seems to have stalled. You may want to inspect the patch URL and see the comments in there. Some questions remain open and there hasn't been implementaion help.

On the upside: It's not abandoned :-)
