It is HIGHLY recommendable that these could be taken off
As far as I know also some RealURL had problems - path segment couldn't be taken off

Correct.
Excludefields only cover fields marked as "exclude = 1".
So you have the possibility to set this by yourself with an extension (which sets exclude = 1 for the desired fields).

Resolved as duplicate of #18192
This has been solved in revision 3519, header_position and header_link are now exclude fields.
