broken temp_CACHED_XXX_ext_localconf.php with PHP short tags
Added by Martin Kutschker over 16 years ago.
Updated about 6 years ago.
Description
The new config cache cleanup removes all occurences of . But it ignores the short tag . This will break the cache file. Manual fixing of the extension file within the extension is the only way to get TYPO3 running again.
(issue imported from #M8256)
should we really support short tags? They are a risk on servers that doesn't support them, so i would add a note to the CGL not to use short tags.
I don't think that short tags are really important. THe annyoing thing is that after an upgrade your TYPO3 installation is broken. If you aren't a PHP developer you have no way to fix your site if you happen to have such an extension installed.
I agree. But instead of fixing that in core it's better to inform the author of the extension to fix it and release an update.
There were several extensions needed an update for 4.2.
According to CGL we do not support short tags. I am for staying with such policy.
Resolved with won't fix:
Extensions shouldn't use short open tags and should be fixed if they do.
