Description

With TYPO3 4.2.x, the extension dbal produces an error when installed:

Fatal error: Call to a member function admin_get_charsets() on a non-object in .../t3lib/class.t3lib_install.php on line 456

This can be fixed by the appended patch 8231. This patch was probably created by Michael Stucki . It was already published several times in the TYPO3 bug list, but it was not applied, even not in 4.2.1.

Please apply it for 4.2.2. It is really fundamental. Without it, 4.2.x is not usable with dbal.
