Bug #21643
closed
What's the problem with TYPO3? Where does this problem occur?
Well the problem is that the current prototype version shipping with Typo3 (1.6.0.3).has major problems handling elements that contain dots and colons within their id attribute. (Appears on FF 3.5 and Safari 4).
Could be a problem with IRRE or any other extension making high usage of JS.
A very nasty pitfall is the fact that e.g. scriptaculous/prototy silently catches browser exceptions that are thrown in this case.
Though i am not aware of any core feature that is effected by this bug i would be generally a good idea to keep prototype/scriptaculous up to date.
(1.6.1 has been released September 1st, 2009)
I personally came across this issue since it stops my extension nh_tvdragndrop from working ;).
Perhaps i makes sense to upgrade scriptaculous as well. I not sure if the current version shipping with Typo3 playes together with the most recent prototype.
Currently shipping with typo3 : 1.8.2. Most recent version: 1.8.3.
The changes between 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 a pretty small so it seems to be "low risk update" ;).
