Pagetree and Connection Problem
Added by Klaus Hinum about 13 years ago.
Updated over 9 years ago.
Description
With slow or bad internet connections or high server load, the pagetree very often runs into time out issues resulting in Connection Problems. Then the user has to reload the entire backend to work again and some large subtrees with 100s of entries wont load at all.
It would be best to make the timeout time configureable and show a retry button. Currently the backend wont be usable due to the red Connection Problem messages that wont disappear.
As an alternative it would be nice to revert back to the old pagetree (or enable alternative pagetrees).

After longer inactivity (and relogin with the pop up) the page tree also often wont load (security token problem) and only a reload of the whole typo3 page helps.

Hi,
as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (6.2.9)?
Timeouts seem to be improved, but still the pagetree often needs a long time to refresh and stalls the page loading. Sometimes the column now is left empty.
Hmmm, about how many pages do we speak?
Haven't counted them but at least a few hundreds. The old pagetool (e.g. when choosing a link) however is much faster with the same amount of pages.
Ok, I've no issues on a system with around 300 pages.
Does the Ajax calls to build up the pagetree needs so much time or may it be the rendering inside the browser?

BTW: There are other open issues about speed of pagetree.
