User settings: lang becomes empty

Description
If the language field (setup.fields.lang.disabled = 1) is disabled/hidden, it will become empty when clicking on 'Save Configuration'.
Which means the language will be english.
If I then click at 'Reset Configuration and Clear Temporary Data', it will return back to the default setting of the user again (which could be set on the user).
I have tried to experiment with setup.default and setup.override, but it doesn't seem to have an effect when the field is disabled.

Okay. This is what I found.
Setting setup.override works. It's like hardcoding what the fields should be.
But still the disabled fields shouldn't be emptied when saving.

as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (6.2.9)?
