Is there a reason why the title of filemounts (sys_filemounts.title) can only be 30 characters long?

If not it would be cool if we could increase the field size.

Basically the reason is that a longer name would probably explode the space we have in the filelist tree in the File module. Do you have any particular reason for such a long name?

I think the answer makes perfect sense. Thank you :)

When I need longer names I can use an Extension so no core modification is needed. The issue can be closed.

I have a particular reason for such a long name.

In a bigger website you might have a rather complex folder structure. If a poweruser has access to a lot of filemounts, he might end up with a list like:

mountA
mountB
[...]
mountY
mountZ

So it would make sense to display part of the hierarchy to give the poweruser an impression which part the mount name belongs to:

departmentA/instituteA/mountA
departmentA/instituteA/mountB
departmentB/instituteA/mountC
etc.

Therefore longer names are needed.

I don't think the lenght in the file module is a real argument. It can be resized by the editor if the title is too long. I just think at the time it was created, no one needed longer titles than 30 chars. But I think it wouldn't hurt anyone to make the field longer.
