Description

After 4.5 copying files in fileadmin without extra steps is not possible anymore.

In 4.5 you could copy and paste the file easily in the same folder because the system added the _01, _02 and so on into the file name = 2 clicks and the file was copied.

Now this feature has been gone for years. At the moment in 6.2 you have to
1. copy the file
2. go to another folder
3. paste
4. rename the file
5. cut the file
6. go back to original folder
7. paste the file

= 7 clicks.

Sorry, I guess I did it the wrong way then, suggestion was: "If you think that this is the wrong decision please write to the mailing list typo3.teams.bugs with issue number and an explanation or open a new ticket and add a relation to this ticket number." Maybe I didn't add the relation right, I just made a link..?

Explanation:
TYPO3 is for admins also. I don't think it's the editor's first need. But it's the first need if you want to change a file, you want to make a backup copy, for example templates, partials and so on. IMHO it makes the system easier=better without extra configuring or extra programs like ftp. Also this is the way computers work, it is the way TYPO3 used to work, it is the way copying content elements work.

I understand if this is not the recommended way for security, but I don't see how this would be a security issue.

I close this because it a duplicate of #64363 ; please continue the discussion there.
I've added a relation between the two issues to keep track of this.

Thank you
