Description

Currently / or /typo3 just show blank pages.

IMHO there is some guidance missing as to what is the next step.

A redirect at least from / and /typo3 to /typo3/install.php would be nice.
This is where the 'touch FIRST_INSTALL' message is shown.

How did you get to this scenario? Why is the database empty? Please describe the steps you did in order to reproduce this behavior, thx!

  • Subject changed from Redirect to /typo3/install.php if DB emtpy to Redirect to /typo3/install.php when not set up yet

It is the FIRST_INSTALL scenario, just after downloading or composering it.

@Jonas Eberle hi and sorry for the late answer;

I tried a very short test with a fresh installation of TYPO3 9.5.13 ("classic" mode, not the composer one) with Xampp on Windows

1) Created the folder \xampp\htdocs\typo3.9.test.it\web
2) Created the correct symlinks to the 9.5.13 core files
3) Configured new virtualhost on Apache and restarted it
4) updated hosts file with typo3.test.it
5) visited http://typo3.9.test.it

Results:

I've been automatically redirected to http://typo3.9.test.it/typo3/install.php where the screen asked me to create the FIRST_INSTALL file

After creating it and refreshed the browser window, it was possible to continue the installation as usual.

Am I missing something? Or a different procedure is necessary?

Sorry, I cannot reproduce any more.

Thank you for testing classic mode. I tested composer mode.

I suspect that I had a PHP error which prevented the redirect. I should have checked the error log.
