Description

Allow the BE editor to edit file properties (filename; metadata; delete the file) directly from where it is referenced instead of "force" the editor to switch to the Filelist module and search for the file.

All this, except for direct deletion, has been possible for quite a while. A screenshot is attached.

Yes, but only metadata can be edited in that way.
IMHO it's missing useful actions like: replace; rename; move; delete.

Maybe a solution could be a button that jumps to the Filelist module positioned in the folder containing the file and scrolled where the file is.

The underlying wish to do actual file operations with sys_file records is also discussed in #97043, where more discussion already happened. I am closing this issue in favor of #97043 where we could proceed further. I will add a note there that a "jump to file" would also be an option. I hope that is ok with you, to try to consolidate this! Let me know if you think this is a mistake.

Hi Garvin, #95447 and #97043 are two very different problems.

This issue #95447 is related to the file itself, in other words: make editing the file and/or its properties more direct without having to leave content editing to go to the File module.

The issue #97043 is related to the file instance, in other words: replace the instance with another file but keep the metadata of the instance.

#95447 is related to changes on the file.
#97043 is related to keeping the instance metadata.

I would not even set them as related and thus keep both issues open.

Thanks for elaborating. I've discussed the issue internally for like an hour and didn't really get it. Mea culpa.

Reopening both, but keeping a relation (not a dupe, mind you) because I think code-wise they are related to address, if someone ever takes on this task :)
