Bug #92856
"Admin Panel" naming confusing
0%
Description
New TYPO3 users are confusing "Admin Panel" with TYPO3 Backend, as in many other systems (WP, Drupal, Magento,...) the "Admin Panel" (or Administration Panel) means the place we call "Backend".
More appropriate name would be "developer toolbar" or "debug bar" or sth similar.
Btw, the term "Backend" is also confusing, especialy with IT/devops, where it's used in the meaning of "upstream server".

There isn't any option for administrative settings in the panel, therefore the name is IMHO misleading.
I propose to change the name to "Debug Panel".

About the name "backend", I often use the word "Redakteursbereich" (German) when talking with our editors because I try to avoid too technical or TYPO3 specific but otherwise unknown terms. This could be translated to something like "Editor's area" or "Editing area". The German word feels more fitting, and of course the term is "wrong" because it is not just for editors - but from the view of the editors it is correct. Perhaps we can brainstorm with this some more using the opening question:
How do we talk with someone who has not worked with TYPO3 for years and how do we talk with a non-technical person?
