Feature #18657
closedauto save/preserve function for backend open documents function
0%
Description
The content of backend forms should be saved (with ajax) into the session in defined time intervalls.
This should be combined with the "Open Documents" function.
So if the users closes a form without saving by mistake, he can get the form back with the open document function and the entered data.
A lot of users have the problem that they loose their work from time to time, by closing the browser without saving or most common klicking to some other place within TYPO3 without thinking about the consequences.
If typo3 automatically saves the form content every minute to the user session and if the user klicks on open documents it reloads the preserved data, that would be a great solution.
This way has a big advantage of the normal auto save function, because the record is not saved itself. This prevents a lot of possible problems.

Yes, auto save of open content elements before 'BE logout' of a user would be nice.

Maybe we will implement this for a customer, who would be interessted in this feature? Could you help us getting it into the core if we develop it?

Sure, I'll push every button I can to get it in the core

The issue is very old, does this issue exists in newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?

Still an important feature that should exist, but we didn't get the funding from the customer.
Still not solved in 6.1

Hey.
Implementing "draft" for changes will require a bigger refactoring of underlying systems.
Since nobody really worked on this, and this issue is still open for so many years, it currently seems to be unlikely to happen.
If it happens, it will most likely be done with fresh issues.
I hope it's ok to close here.
