Hi,
as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (4.5 or 6.1)?
Looks like the Problem does still exist
Which version of Typo3 CMS did you test on?

Master branch at the date when i've updated the ticket. So it was 6.2
- Category set to Frontend
- Status changed from Needs Feedback to New
- Status changed from New to Accepted
- Assignee set to Benni Mack
- Target version set to 7.1 (Cleanup)
The main problem is this:
- The element browser (for .e.g group/db types for a page) lets you choose the siteroot (page ID 0). This is wrong and should not be allowed.
We need to fix this.
- Target version changed from 7.1 (Cleanup) to 7.4 (Backend)
- Target version changed from 7.4 (Backend) to 7.5
- Target version changed from 7.5 to 7 LTS
- Sprint Focus set to Stabilization Sprint
- Target version changed from 7 LTS to Candidate for Major Version
- Target version changed from Candidate for Major Version to Candidate for patchlevel
I've just discovered that the bug is still present on 6.2.16 but not on 7.6.2; on 7.6 it is no more possible to select the [0]root when choosing the items of the CType menu.
Should we close that ticket? Looks like it's not that important ;-)
- Status changed from Accepted to Rejected
this issue is not important enough to fix in 6.2.
since the problem not occurs in 7.6 I will close this issue now.
